Natural Tips That will help you heal from Colds

Image
No one has time to be sick, yet it seems like colds and respiratory infections can strike at the worst times. What if you could stop your cold in its tracks? It turns out, you can! Today’s post covers 8 effective all-natural things you can do to overcome a cold or even the flu, so you won’t need to take bone-damaging medicines. At the first sign of a cold, such as a tickle in your throat and nose or a tight feeling in your chest, take a look at the following list. Better yet, take a look at it before you feel those first symptoms. Let’s get started! 1.Clear Your Nasal Passages Flushing out your nose and sinuses can keep the cold virus from taking hold. If you have a neti pot, now is the time to use it. A hot shower and saline nasal spray are also good options. The key is to clear your nasal passages frequently so the virus can’t “settle in” as easily. 2.Use Raw Honey For Cough Syrup Over-the-counter cough medicines are not only ineffective; they can be harmful. Most of them contain Dex...

Want strong bones?Stop These Bad Eating Habits

Image
Many of you are familiar with bone-healthy foods that reduce cortisol and decrease the symptoms of stress and anxiety. But did you know that some eating habits and foods do exactly the opposite? Find below seven eating habits and foods that you’ll want to avoid not only for your bone health, but for your emotional health as well. 1.Skipping Meals It’s easy to miss meals if you’re in a hurry or distracted, especially breakfast. While missing one now and then isn’t bad, if meal-skipping becomes a habit, it habitually destabilizes your blood sugar and sets the stage for moodiness, irritability, and anxiety. Missing a meal also means you’re missing an opportunity to balance your pH and strengthen your bones with nutritious foods. 2.Fried And/Or Processed Foods Highly-processed, packaged foods are low in nutritive value and high in sodium, sugar, and more often than not, synthetic chemicals and food additives. In addition, bone-damaging hydrogenated oils are often used in fried and packaged...

Tips on How to ensure your liver function properly

Image
The liver is a large, meaty organ that sits on the right side of the belly. Weighing about 3 pounds, the liver is reddish-brown in color and feels rubbery to the touch. Normally you can't feel the liver, because it's protected by the rib cage. The liver has two large sections, called the right and the left lobes. The gallbladder sits under the liver, along with parts of the pancreas and intestines. The liver and these organs work together to digest, absorb, and process food. The liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions. How eating Junk food can damage your kidneys as diabetes

Image
Eating a junk food diet can be as damaging to the kidney as diabetes, according to a new study. The new research shows that the problems caused by eating fast food or a diet high in fat are similar to those found in type 2 diabetes. The study took rats and fed them a diet of either junk food – consisting of cheese, chocolate bars and marshmallows - for eight weeks or a special food that was high in fat for five weeks. The researchers then looked at the changes those diets made to the animals’ blood sugar levels and the glucose transports that are in the kidneys. Those transporters have a central role in diabetes and problems with them can lead to significant problems for internal organs. The study found that the rats with type 2 diabetes had more of certain kinds of glucose transporters and regulatory proteins. But the diet caused similar changes in those same receptors – meaning that it could lead to the same problems as experienced by people with diabetes. Type 2 diabetes occurs when...

One Tip on how to keep your kidneys healthy always

Image
Eating red meat may boost the risk for kidney failure, but swapping even one daily serving of red meat for another protein may reduce the risk, a large study from Singapore suggested. Red meat intake is strongly associated with an increased risk of end-stage renal disease, the loss of normal kidney function. The relationship was also "dose dependent", which means the higher the consumption, the greater the risk. The association held up even after compensating for factors that could skew the results, such as lifestyle and other health conditions, the study authors noted. "Our findings suggest that patients with chronic kidney disease or the general population worried about their kidney health can still maintain protein intake but consider switching to plant-based sources," said Dr Woon-Puay Koh, professor in the office of Clinical Sciences at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore. "However, if they still choose to eat meat, fish, shellfish and poultry ar...

Here are the Few ways to save while still making your wedding look expensive . DITCH THE FLOWERS The entrance to your reception should ideally have a welcoming array of flower displays to 'wow' your guests on arrival.  However, if that's pushing you over budget, why not dress two handsome male model waiters in your theme (such as white tie and tails) to be on either side of the entrance, and obviously have them hold a tray of champagne flutes. Here is why your pills are not fighting diseases like they used to - WHO reports

Image
The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alarm about the level of resistance to antibiotics by bacteria and other disease causing-organisms. According to the global health body, some common practices have contributed to bacteria being increasingly resistant to medication used to fight diseases. The WHO defines antimicrobial resistance as “when microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change in ways that render the medications used to cure the infections they cause ineffective.” “When the microorganisms become resistant to most antimicrobials they are often referred to as ‘superbugs’. This is a major concern because a resistant infection may kill, can spread to others, and imposes huge costs to individuals and society.” It describes drug resistance as one of ‘the biggest threats’ to global health in contemporary times which leaves anyone living anywhere in the world at risk. In a blogpost, Marc Sprenger, director of the WHO’s secretariat for antimicrobial ...

Image
A role model is a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people. A role model is someone who other individuals aspire to be like, either in the present or in the future. A role model may be someone who you know and interact with on a regular basis, or may be someone who you've never met. Youngsters usually benefit from having a relationship with someone older and wiser to mentor them. Although the mentor might be a teacher, family member or more experienced peer, not everyone is suitable to be an influential, positive role model. Effective role models possess desirable characteristics that make them easy to look up to. They inspire others to make changes and strive toward new goals. If you are seeking a suitable candidate to serve as a role model to someone you care about, it helps to be aware of the qualities necessary to best fulfill the role. A study shows that being a role model is not constrained to those with fancy ti...
