Discover 3 Amazing Things To Do When You Face Setbacks

Setbacks in life result in some form of emotional tension. As a result, you feel feelings of regret, grief, fury, and self-blame. You're surrounded with doubt.

It's difficult to remain calm during difficult times. I can speak from personal experience, including having my car stolen from me by someone I trusted, who I still can't find, losing a plot of land I bought due to litigation issues that surfaced after we had done our due diligence and purchased the land, Having my wife's cold store and provision shop shut down after all the money we invested in starting the business. The store was closed as a result of a problem with the premises we rented from the landlord, who failed to disclose the problem to us, and a whole lot more. It's been a very difficult period, to put it mildly. However, one thing I do is to bpatient. Be patient and ask yourself, "Will this matter a year from now?"

Every challenge and adversity does not come to weaken you. If you reflect, you may find a deeper meaning and higher purpose hidden inside the challenging circumstance.

God is always there for you, no matter what happens in your life. He will never leave you alone or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). When you are feeling down, just remember that God is always by your side and he will surely see you through.

Count your blessings and have a grateful mindset. Be thankful for whatever you have in life. If you have a roof over your head, food on your table, clothes in a closet, have a bed to sleep in and a supporting family you are very fortunateMany people struggle day and night and lack some of the things you have despite the difficulties you are currently experiencing.

I'll share with you some things that support me while I'm struggling.

1.Trust God.

Note: When I say trust God, I don’t mean being lazy and not doing anything expecting a miracle to happen. God expects us to work. He gives us talents and abilities and He requires that we work and use them(The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.  Genesis 2:15 NIV).Adam himself toiled in the Garden of Eden. Adam was responsible for tending and maintaining the Garden—working and caring for it. His work in the Garden was fertile and profitable.

God wants us to work and work wisely and well. Then He can bless us. If you do no work—God has nothing to bless! God promises to bless the works of our hands, So its important to work and not be lazy.Learn a skill, learn how to trade, learn how to blog etc

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.  Ecclesiastes 9:10 NIV

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

Having cleared things out, let's go on to our discussion of trusting God during challenging circumstances.

As Christians, we are frequently reminded that God has a plan and a purpose for our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This verse has brought me much comfort in times of uncertainty about the future.

To trust is to believe in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of something. So, when it comes to trusting God, that means believing in His reliability, His Word, His ability and His strength. The Bible says that God cannot lie. That He always keeps His promises. That He loves you and has good in store for you. Trusting in Him means believing what He says about Himself, about the world and about you is true.

Trusting God is more than a feeling; it’s a choice to have faith in what He says even when your feelings or circumstances would have you believe something different. Your feelings and circumstances matter and are very much worth paying attention to. God cares about them both. But those things alone are not reliable enough to base your life on. They can change at any moment, even in an instant. God, on the other hand, does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and therefore is worthy of your trust.

Trusting God is not about ignoring your feelings or reality. It is not pretending that everything is OK when it isn’t. Trusting God is living a life of belief in and obedience to God even when it’s difficult.

2.Surrender your worries to God.

Now that you know what it means to trust God, how exactly can you do that in your everyday life?

If you trust someone, you feel comfortable being honest with them about anything. God is much more reliable than even your most trustworthy friend. When things feel difficult, He doesn’t ask you to keep those feelings to yourself.

(Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7, New International Version)

Because God loves you, you can show your trust in Him by talking about all your feelings and circumstances with Him — the good and hard — through prayer. Don’t let your emotions rule your life; bring them to God so He can help you address them. He is not disappointed or frustrated by your struggles, doubts or pain. He cares about you, and you can trust Him with those things.

When you trust, you go to God and His word when life is hard. You also act on obedience (doing what God says in His Word) and trust that He will ultimately take care of the rest. In trust, you do not look for security in other things; you look to God to hold you securely in difficult circumstances. You won’t do this perfectly, but God is kind and patient with you while you learn to trust Him.

“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” He said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”

Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from Him. “Abba, Father,” He said, “everything is possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” (Mark 14:34-36, NIV)

Jesus Himself felt overwhelmed by what was before Him, and He went straight to His Father.

He cares for your hurts. He pays attention. How comforting it is to know that the God of the universe is also paying attention to you. Knowing that God is for you will strengthen your trust in Him during times of hardship and the unknown.

3.Meditate on God’s Word.

Instead of repeating things you worry about in your mind, you can repeat God’s Word through meditation. Christian meditation is simply focusing on God’s Word and thinking about it deeply. It’s also a proven way to decrease stress and increase peace. Always remember that God will bring good out of what looks like a hopeless situation.

Here are some key verses you can meditate on when worry strikes:

The Lord Himself will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forget you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry. – Deuteronomy 31:8

God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. – Psalm 18:30

Don’t be afraid! Don’t worry! I have always told you what will happen. You are my witnesses. There is no other God but me. I know of no other Rock; I am the only One. – Isaiah 44:8

When thou pass through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walk through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; and the flame shall not consume you Isaiah 43:2.

So don’t worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34

Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. – Philippians 4:6

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. – Jeremiah 29:11

By writing down these verses on sticky notes and reading them periodically throughout the day, you can memorize them. As a result, you'll be more equipped to resist Satan's temptation to worry.

When you find yourself worrying, take a step back and remind yourself that God is in control. Life doesn’t always go as we plan. This becomes an opportunity to trust in the Lord and His roadmap for our lives. I pray that you embrace the unplanned!

Tell me in the comment section about a time when your life didn't go as planned, but you saw the Lord's purpose in it all.
